چکیده
Even though the interaction of blast waves with dense particle distributions is ubiquitous in nature and industry, underlying physics multiphase system evolution not clearly understood. A canonical composed an embedded monodisperse distribution spherical particles a spherical, high-energy gaseous charge studied numerically using Eulerian–Lagrangian approach to elucidate role non-dilute effects on dynamics two-phase flow system. The direct simulation Monte Carlo method modified model inelastic particle–particle collisions inter-leaving through complex structures obtain parameters that are fit semi-empirical cloud drag laws account for aerodynamic interactions. study reveals inter-particle decrease total kinetic energy at early stages particle-laden wave evolution, but near-particle increases this stage. In contrast, later tend retain more energy, while interactions dissipate energy.

Dispersion of sound in dilute suspensions with nonlinear particle relaxation.
The theory accounting for nonlinear particle relaxation (viscous and thermal) has been applied to the prediction of dispersion of sound in dilute suspensions. The results suggest that significant deviations exist for sound dispersion between the linear and nonlinear theories at large values of omegatau(d), where omega is the circular frequency and tau(d) is the Stokesian particle relaxation tim...

A tubeless siphon was created by sucking a 1% aqueous Polyox† solution laden with particles from a beaker into a cylinder by moving a piston. The piston speed and particle concentration were varied. At very high rates of withdrawal, all the liquid could be removed before the siphon broke. In this case, the beaker was completely cleaned without a trace of liquid. The addition of small concentrat...
متن کاملBuckling of particle-laden interfaces.
In this paper, we investigate the buckling of an oil-water interface populated by micron-sized latex particles using a Langmuir trough. In this work, we extend results of buckling of particle-laden interfaces from the millimeter down to the submicron range while investigating the effect of a different capillary length on the resulting wavelength. The experimental data is compared to the existin...
متن کاملGranular and Particle-Laden Flows
This research programme at the Newton Institute was devoted to improving the understanding and mathematical modelling of granular and particle-laden fluid systems as they arise in nature, in the laboratory and in industry. Geophysical examples of granular and particle-laden flows include rock avalanches, debris flows, mud flows and turbulent boundary layers with suspended particles, such as vol...
